Remember when we used to say in school, “Snow, snow, go away. Come again another day.”? That’s how I feel right now. I’m ready for spring.
We had from six to eight inches of snow and ice, and it is still on the ground in places. Not only was there snow, but there was ice. We were stuck inside the house for almost a week. It was nice to watch the snow fall, but at our age, we decided we didn’t want to fall and break a bone or more. The teens from church with several adults and shoveled our driveway. We are so thankful for everyone who came.
My dad always said, when we have a deep snow, we get a lot of good nutrients in the soil. It may be a wive’s tale, but we’re hoping it’s true. For the last few years, our garden has not been the best. We’re hoping this year it will be better. I freeze and can vegetables during the summer, and my pantry is low right now. I’m anxious to have green beans to can.
Spring will be here before we know it. At least, I’m hoping for no more big snows this year. It’s supposed to be in the 60’s today, and I’m all for it. We all feel better after a cold to have beautiful sunshine.
Enjoy this week.
