Hi friend,
Some of the most powerful moments in a story don’t happen in the light.
They happen in the dark.
When everything falls apart…
When answers don’t come…
When God feels far away…
Those are the moments readers remember.
And honestly, those are the moments that can feel hardest to write.
It’s tempting to fix everything quickly or wrap it up with a neat answer.
But real faith doesn’t always look neat.
It can look like struggle.
Like questions.
Like choosing to do what’s right… even when nothing makes sense.
Think about the Psalms—honest, sometimes messy, but always reaching toward God.
Your characters can do that too.
Try this:
Write a scene where your character feels completely alone—but still chooses to do what’s right.
No easy answers.
Just quiet faith in a hard moment.
Those are the scenes that stay with readers.
And sometimes… they encourage hearts more than we realize.
Cheering you on,
Kathy Cretsinger
