ADJUSTING TO CHANGE

\"\"No one likes change, but changes happen every day. No one probably ever thought our world would change this much in one year, but it has. The pandemic has brought about a lot of changes, and our writing has changed also. Personally, I have to challenge myself to write daily. I\’d much rather watch movies, but I have a book to finish.

My biggest change is wanting to sit in my chair and write. Instead of looking at the chair with dread, I have made goals for myself. When I first began writing, I set goals. Time and other interests had taken me away from my goals, but I am now a goal maker.Lists are an excellent way to work when we don\’t want to. I make lists of what I need to do today. At this time, my list is small. It mostly says, \”Write 4,000 words.\” Today, I\’m adding another item to my list, buy a washing machine. Mine is dead or on its last leg. Clothes are piling up, and we will soon either have to go to a store and buy clothes or get a washer. In the long run, the washer won.

Another thing I do is stick to my time schedule. I find I can write better early in the mornings or late at night. That is written in my list of things to do. I set a time to write, and I give myself a set time. I will write before lunch, then we\’ll go look at a washer, and I\’ll come home and write more.

I miss not being able to spend with my writing friends. I miss our writer\’s group, and I miss conferences. Our KenTen Writers Group is having our conference/retreat this year. We are all praying for an end to the virus. We are limited to thirty people this year, which is the requirement of the facility we use.

This will pass. It will not be permanent. I\’m making the best of it. I\’m writing, emailing my friends, face timing, and anything else I can do to contact people. Our writing needs people. This is not something we can do alone.

Schedule your day each day before you go to bed. Get up in the mornings and look at your day\’s list. Then go to work to mark all of the items off that you accomplished. Have a blessed writing day.
