EIGHTY AND LOVING IT

\"\"In 2006, I decided I wanted to write a book, but I had no idea what kind of a book I\’d write. In fact, I did not know one genre from another, I only knew I wanted to put words on paper. A friend of mine told me I could do it. I always wanted to write but  had no idea where to start. My friend told me she would help me. She had no idea what she got herself into. Today, I am still trying to write.

My book took several years to finish and a bunch of refusals from agents. In fact, I became so discouraged that I published my book myself. Sales drifted in during the first three months, and I decided to write a second book. My writing journey began at age  71. Not all writers are spring chickens, some of us are older when we start to write.

Writing is an ageless career. I\’m still writing and hope to publish my seventh book before I pass on. When I reached 71, I also began a publishing company that published around sixty books. I remembered how hard it had been for me to publish my first books, and I wanted to help other authors. It has been a very fulfilling journey for me. Never let anyone tell you that you are too old to do anything.

Age is only a number. Be confident with your age. Be proud that you have lived this  long, a lot of people didn\’t make it. When I look at the obits today many of the friends I went to high school with are listed there. Our group is getting smaller and smaller.

God has been good to me. I have a strong faith. I depend on God for everything. He has blessed me many times. Now, as I\’m getting older, I can see what God wants for me, what He has done for me. Life is something to be cherished. Never forget that. Always look to God\’s Word for guidance.
