Changes In Our Lives
I\’ve never liked change. Maybe it\’s my age, but I still don\’t like it. I don\’t think I ever have. Change is part of life. It\’s kinda like snakes. I don\’t like them, but they are essential to the universe. Therefore I tolerate them.
This has been a hard week for me. Not change for me, but for a friend. She lost her son a week ago, and I feel her grief. I know what she is going through. I know how she feels right now. Accidents are always more difficult to accept. I know, I\’ve been there.
Our youngest daughter passed away August 9, 1975. Yes, that is a long time ago, but it is still like yesterday. The first stage you go through is, \”I Know It\’s a Bad Dream and I\’ll Wake Up and Everything Will Be Okay.\” That doesn\’t happen. Acceptance begins to creep in. and you realize there is one less plate on the table, one less person\’s clothes to wash, one less person to talk to. It is so hard when it is a child of any age. We do survive, if we want to.
Changes happens in all phases of our life. Not only death, but we have to move for jobs and other reasons. It can be a challenge. We have to learn to adjust many things. As I get older, change is like a dirty diaper. Some are wet and some are stinky, but they all have to be addressed. God is always there to help us during these changes.
