Changes are something we all live with. They can be good or bad. The past year has had a lot of changes we either enjoy or endure. Most of us have lost someone in our family. Babies born that we haven\’t met yet. We have two new babies born in our personal family, and I\’ve lost my only sister. This has been a challenging year.
The writing industry has also seen changes. Some publishing houses have closed their doors, some bookstores are no longer open, and libraries have had difficulty getting books to people. Publishers are not taking as many books as they once did, which makes it frustrating for authors.
The good side of this is that we, as authors have time to study our writing craft more. We can read more books in our genre, and we can go to virtual conferences. I\’ll speak at my first virtual conference on March 20, at Mid-South Christian Writers Conference. I\’m excited to participate in this conference. I\’m also a little scared about doing a virtual conference. It\’s something I\’ve never done before.
There are some outstanding blogs we can take advantage of now. They are very informative for writers. I\’ve learned a lot in the last few months from one blog, in particular, The Write Connection. This blog belongs to Edie Melson, and I\’ve known her for several years. She has agreed to let me put some of her personal posts on this blog. I\’m looking forward to sharing her knowledge with others.
Yesterday, we sprung forward to Daylight Savings Time. This is the one time I love. I wish it could be like this all the time. For the last four months, I\’ve been awake at 5 a.m. I am a DST person.
Another thing that will be changing is this website. I will be moving my devotional from Facebook to this blog. Each Friday I will have a devo. I\’ve done this devo for several years. It started out being geared toward Christian girls but recently became a blog for everyone. Facebook is making a lot of changes, and I expect to be bumped off before long. Several of my friends have already had their accounts closed.
Because I am a writer, I will be blogging each day. I\’m going to try to blog each day. My time will be reorganized for me to do this. I will take one day a week to do several blogs, and most will be talking about writing. I hope you will join me for each of these blogs.
For those that do not know me, I am a writer and a former publisher. I sold my publishing business last year, but it wasn\’t because of COVID 19. It was because I wanted to write more. I love helping authors learn to write. You are encouraged to leave a comment in the comment section. I try to answer each one, and if you want to write me personally, I can be reached at mantlerockpublishing@gmail.com.
Have a blessed week.
