GLUTEN-FREE HOLIDAYS

\"\"Yes, your holiday can be gluten-free. It takes a little planning, but you can get there. It is not as hard as you might think. When we think about holidays, we think about bread. You can have other things instead of dressing and rolls. There are some gluten-free bread out there, you have to search. This year, there are several gluten-free dressing recipes.

Everything does not have gluten. only certain products that have wheat in them. Daisy Sour Cream and Cottage Cheese are both gluten-free. If you miss crackers, Blue Diamond is gluten-free, but they are nut based. If you have an allergy to nuts, you wouldn\’t want them, but they are good. Butterfinger candy bars are gluten-free. There are several dry cereals that are gluten-free, Cheerio\’s, Lucky Charms, and Chex Rice and Corn. Chex also has a Honey Nut and Peanut Butter that are gluten-free. All ketchups in the US are gluten-free but read the labels to be sure. I use Heinz, and it is gluten-free.

My daughter made a Pumpkin Bread for me that is gluten-free. It was very good and moist. It doesn not have the gritty feel that most gluten-free breads do. She used coconut flour and coconut oil. I don\’t have the recipe, but I will search for it.

You can also purchase several packages of breads. Take advantage of them if you think you have to have bread. You do learn that you can live without breads.

Remember vegetables cooked with only butter, salt, and/or pepper are gluten-free. If you make a cream sauce or gravy, use cornstarch. Getting this in my head helped me. Experiment and have fun. I\’ll always answer any questions you have. I\’m not an expert, but I will try to find answers.
