This has definitely been a strange two weeks. Things have happened that have never happened before, but it all turned out good.
First of all, I had very bad chest pains. A severe pain that almost stopped my breathing. Heart attack? That was my first thought, but it eased later in the night. It calls for action when my calm husband is scared, and he was.
We went to the doctor, then had an appoint with a heart specialist, who in turn sent me immediately to the hospital. That was scary in itself. We did rush and arrived at the hospital where I was already admitted. Then the fun began.
My blood pressure was 208/94, which is a little high. The heart surgeon wanted to do a heart cath, but with my blood pressure so high, he couldn\’t. That afternoon I was started on another blood pressure med to take the blood pressure down. It worked, but it also slowed my heart rate. I wondered why the nurse kept coming in my room during the night and talking to me. The next morning I found out about the drop in heart rate. It is not good when your heart rate drops to 30.
I was scheduled for a heart cath around 9:00 on Saturday morning, June 13. This was my first experience with anything pertaining to my heart, and I was very uncomfortable. I knew I had the best doctor around, but I was facing the unknown. The heart cath was to be in my right arm, and I had no idea how it would play out.
There was no damage to my heart, and I did not have a heart attack. Instead, my blood pressure had caused the pain. That was a relief, and I am happy that I did not have my family curse of heart disease. My dad, his siblings, my sister, and the majority of my cousins have some form of heart disease. How I escaped, I\’ll never know. I guess the Lord is looking out for me, and for that I am thankful.
After eating with my left hand, which I became pretty good doing, I am now back to normal. I do have some problems with my blood pressure, but it is somewhat back to normal. I am so thankful for a wonderful doctor and great nurses. Mercy Health/Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY is the best. I could not have had better care. Even the food was good!
Good news doesn\’t stop there. Tuesday afternoon, my oldest granddaughter, Savannah Turpin became engaged to Henry MacAfee. We are very pleased to welcome Henry into our family. We wish them the best for the future.
