Eating at the Kid’s Table

Each fourth Sunday, we have a Pot Luck at church. You know, you cook and bring a dish. It’s always fun to see what everyone brings. I’m pretty simple, Poppyseed Chicken, corn, green beans, bread, and a dessert or a salad.

February was my birthday, and I got to go to the head of the line. A little five-year-old, who has told me I’m her “number one best friend” came through the line with me. She told me she had a place at her table for me, and I could eat with her. Do you ever turn a child down? NO!

I was honored to eat at the kid’s table. Not everyone gets to be invited. If you’re ever asked, do not turn it down. You will get a new outlook on life.

At the kid’s table, everyone talks to you if you start the conversation. (I found that out early.) There’s no gossip, no putting on airs, no trying to be something you’re not. It’s a simple time talking to children. Children who are innocent of what we see each day. How I wish we could all be like children. Everyone should sit at the kid’s table. It makes life a little simpler. Thank you, Carleigh, for asking me to sit with you at your table. I enjoyed it so much. I’m a better person after sitting with you.

That cn be debated. Piper would rather have her Popaw to tke her for rides in the truck. Maggie just wants her Mama. I’m kinda left out, but that’s okay. Maggie will let me hold her for a few minutes, and Piper talks all the time. Fun days anyway.
