Happy Thanksgiving
This week we celebrate a special day. A day of thanksgiving. In school, we were taught about the pilgrims and their long ordeal in the New World. We take one day to remember the sacrifices made by them and others. We, as a country, have much to be thankful for.
For most of us, there are very few days we can have all of our family together to eat a meal and spend time with. We should cherish those days. Then, some of us have family all over the world. That makes it a little harder.
The last three years have been hard for most of us. Our family has seen several deaths of relatives near to us. It’s hard to let go. We have had diseases that could kill us, but some have survived and some have not. We should be thankful that those we lost close to us have graced our lives. They’ve made us better people.
My thoughts go back to a terrible tornado on December 10, 2021. This tornado was a few miles from our house. The damage is still evident today. Many people have not been able to rebuild. What are they thankful for? If you ask them, they are thankful they made it out alive, even though several did not. I’ve heard stories about people riding the storm out in their bathtubs to find themselves in a field or the backyard of their house. They always express their thanks for being alive.
This Thanksgiving Day, remember those who have lost so much, and those who are thankful for what they have. Thank God for those we lost because of illness or accidents. Thank God for the guidance and love they gave you. Most of all, thank God for your life, for letting you enjoy this Thanksgiving Day.
Do you do something special on your Thanksgiving Day? Please tell us what you do.
Happy Thanksgiving!
