THE FINER THINGS OF LIFE

What are the most meaningful things around you? Not physical things, but family, children, rain in the summer, stars at night, even the thunder and lightning are beautiful.

Once I was waiting for an airplane to go from Dallas, TX to Knoxville, TN. It was raining, but we didn\’t know how bad the storm really was. I remember we were waiting at the lower level of the airport. We were told our plane would be late because of the storm. I wasn\’t concerned. I\’d been traveling all day, and all I wanted was to get home and go to bed.

Finally, they announced our flight. They told us they would not clean the plane because of the storm. When they landed, we were to hurry to the plane. The plane would leave as soon as we boarded.

There were few people on the plane, and I took a window seat, buckled my seatbelt, and waited for the dreaded take-off. The pilot announced when he got the okay, he would go up as fast as he could, and it would be straight up. They cleared us, and we took off, straight up, really straight.

I looked out the window and a streak of lightning went through a cloud, illuminating it to beautiful pinks, reds, and blues. I was looking down at the cloud. The only thought I had was, people say there is no God, but there is. Nothing else could have orchestrated that one moment in time. It was beautiful beyond words.

The lightning through the clouds was my finer thing in life. I could have bought nothing as beautiful as that. There is not enough money in the world to buy that one beautiful moment. God is so good. He blessed me with a memory that will last through my life and on through the ages. I am so thankful I have a God who loves to impress me so much.
