HAPPY PLACES

Where is your favorite place? A place to love to visit. Maybe you have friends and family there. For a day or a week, you like to kick off your shoes. Most of us have those places. Sixty-two years ago, my sister introduced me to this place. It became my home twice, and Shady Valley is the setting of my books. I met my husband there. I love Shady Valley, Tennessee.

Shady Valley is where I set my “Nothing Shady Ever Happens in Shady Valley.” It is a small community with one caution light, one restaurant, one gas station/grocery store, one Dollar General Store, and five churches. There is only one road that goes in and out o’t a mountain. The scenery is breathtaking.

We lived on Iron Mountain and faced Holston Mountain. The winters are wonderful. We watched the snow cross the top of Holston Mountain and enter the valley. It was breathtaking to see a veil of snow slip across the mountain.

Winters are the best, and I want you to enjoy the beautiful winter scenery. Please use a full screen to view the following video. It is beautiful.

I do know where your Happy Place is. Jerry read this this morning and asked if I wanted to move back. I almost said yes, but there is snow up there, a lot of snow. I would have a peaceful place to write and I could sit in my warm room and look at the snow. Then, grocery stores are a long way off. I’ll stay where I am. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Life is easier there. No drama.
