The older we get, the more friends we have in heaven than here on earth. We don\’t think about dying when we\’re young, but it is becoming more on my mind lately. I\’ll be sad to leave my family, but I know they will be with me later. Heaven is getting pretty full of my friends and family.
In September 2o2o, I wrote about my sister\’s passing. She and I were the only children born to Mack and Isobel Anderson. Barbara and I had a pretty normal childhood. We played and fought and played some more. She went away to college and fell in love with Joe Galloway, and married him in June 1958. Joe was a preacher, and they moved around several times. I believe Barbara loved West Virginia more than her home state of Tennessee.
Barbara and Joe had four children, Ed, Jon, Brian, and Judy. There were eleven grandchildren. The children moved away to pursue thier jobs, Ed to Virginia, Jon to Scotland, Brian to Mississippi, and Judy to Alabama. We are a scattered family, but everyone stayed in touch fairly well.
On Christmas Eve 2018, Joe passed away. He wanted his ashes scattered on his boyhood farm in West Virginia. Now Barbara is gone, and we will scatter her ashes this week on the same farm.
Because of the COVID, we had to wait until Jon could travel from Scotland to the US. He arrived in Memphis this past Saturday. Now we will all be together to scatter her ashes. We need the closure. We need to be physically together. Jon will conduct the funeral and Brian will oversee the scattering of the ashes. This is going to be a very emotional week for me.
Yes, there are more family and friends in Heaven than on earth. It will be a joyous time when we will all be together.
