EIGHTY AND LOVING IT #10

\"\" Sunday morning in church our minister said, \”Think about the person that has showed you the most love.\” Of course he finished the thought with Christ loves us more, but I immediately thought of my husband, Jerry Cretsinger. My mind went back to April 9, 2004. The day I almost died. I remember Jerry coming in the ER almost immediately as soon as I did. He told the EMT he had passed the ambulance at Walgreens, which was very close to the hospital. That is about the last thing I remember until two weeks later.

How did my husband show me so much love? He was at the hospital each day and made every visit to ICU at each visitor\’s time. I don\’t know how many times a day he was there, but I remember several times waking up when he talked to me. He made the thirty-mile trip for 45 days.

When I came home, he made me walk every day. He did everything he could to build my strength. He still encourages me today.

Through the years, he has been there when things happened when I needed encouragement. He made a lot of other trips to hospitals to be with me and encourage me. I do not believe I could have reached 80 without him.

I\’m telling you this because Saturday he will turn 80. Yes, I married a younger man. He is all of nine months younger than me. I could not have chosen a better man to spend my years with. Maybe God chose him for me. We never know the answer to that question, but I feel God had a hand in it.

If you live in Marshall County, Kentucky and see him about, wish him a Happy Birthday. I know he will appreciate it. That\’s a picture of us at our grandson\’s football game. Jerry loves football.
