This week marks the beginning of fall. In my younger years, I did not like fall. My favorite time of the year was spring and summer. As I look back on that time in my life, I believe my dislike of fall was associated with school. I never hated school, I didn\’t want to be indoors. I would much rather have my classes outside, but the teachers didn\’t agree with me.
Now that I am older, I love fall. When I get up in the mornings and see the fog rising from the field behind my house, I love it. It means the days will be cooler in a little while, and I can take walks in the fallen leaves. Believe me, we have a lot of leaves with a yard full of trees. I have already started watching for the maple trees to change colors. I love the reds, oranges, and yellows.
When fall comes, I love football games, roasted hot dogs, bonfires, apple cider, chili, and hot chocolate. I love pumpkin pie and pumpkin roll, but I do not like pumpkin flavored coffee. I love the shorter days and the cooler temperatures.
In all honesty, I am not a winter person. Snow is not my friend. Ice needs to melt before it is good. I like to curl up with a good book in the winter, but I read all year long.
The best pumpkin pie recipe is on the inside of the Libby\’s Pumpkin can, and the best pumpkin roll is found on the back of the Libby\’s Pumpkin can. I have used both for years, and I\’m glad they are on the same can. I\’ve never had one to fail.
Spend a few minutes enjoying the changing of the seasons. God has blessed us with so much beauty.

I love things about each season. Right now, I’m looking forward to cooler temperatures in the Lowcountry of SC. 🙂 Have a blessed week!
We go to Tybee Island, GA in the fall. Less people and nicer temperatures. Love the Lowcountry and used to have a friend who lived outside Myrtle Beach. We haven’t been back since she passed. I do love the cooler temperatures. It is supposed to get to around 66 degrees in Western KY by Wednesday. I’m thinking chili.
I love fall. We have a few trees that lose their leaves early, and they’re already swirling around! Quick reminder – if you love pumpkin pie, get the “Pumpkin Pie Concrete Mixer” or shake at Culver’s! The shake is like “drinking” a pumpkin pie!!
You were telling me about the Pumpkin Pie Shake or Concrete Mixer. I will have to try one when I’m with you in case I don’t like it. I think we like most of the same things. It might be tasty.
Fall is my favorite time of year too. The crisp, cool nights and mornings with the windows open. The leaves. I always feel more inspired to write in September and October, and try to take advantage of the muse during those months.
I once had the most delicious recipe for Pumpkin cake. I’ll have to search the internet to see if I can find it. All I remember is it included a box vanilla cake mix and a can of pumpkin. My daddy loved it. I baked the cakes for him. Neither of us were big on spices, so I cut them to a minimum.
I prefer sweet potato custard to pumpkin pie. Without the spices of course. Lol.
I agree Laurie. I like to write in the fall and winter. There is so much to do during the spring and summer to want to settle down and write.
The cake sounds good. I like a pumpkin cake better than and pie, and I’m a pie person. When we were on vacation during the summer, we found a place is Custer, SD called, “The Purple Pie Place.” We made several visits to it, Their pie was delicious and their ice cream was wonderful. Each time we went there was a long line out the door of the restaurant.
If you find the cake the cake recipe, let me know. Jerry would love it, but I’m on gluten-free now. I have not found a good cake recipe that is gluten-free yet. I’m still trying, but I have meds I take when I eat gluten. I had to have pizza yesterday, real pizza.
