EIGHTY AND LOVING IT!

\"\"Each day is a treasure. Each friend is a joy. Each family member is cherished. This is something I learned several years ago. I think it\’s one reasons why I enjoy life so much. Humor me with my story.

Seventeen years ago, on April 5, 2004, I entered a hospital for an easy laparoscopy hernia repair. Easy as pie, well, it wasn\’t. During the surgery, the doctor saw more hernias and decided to repair them. In the process of the repair, the doctor perforated my small intestines and sent me home. You can imagine the rest. Bad infection.

After five days of pain, I was taken back to the hospital, and I almost died before I got there. Emergency surgery was performed, and I spent over six weeks in the hospital. This changed my life both physically and mentally. I began to think of the amount of pain others endured. I could sympathise with them, and I decided to have a better outlook on life.

It takes less muscles to smile than it does to frown. I had the choice to make people feel better or worse. It was my decision. I decided to make people feel better when they were around me. It\’s not hard to do and people like you a lot better. When you see me, I pray I am a happy person. I want to make all of my friends happy to be around me. I want to make them laugh. It isn\’t hard to do.

Look at your life today. Are you making people happy? Do you have a light that shines from within? What is your outlook on life? If you don\’t get anything out of this blog but to be positive, I\’ll be very happy. Growing old is not a sad thing, it\’s a good thing and the way God wants us to grow. All stages of our life are wonderful. We need to feel good about ourselves.
