WRITING FOR THE CHRISTIAN MARKET

\"\"Most of us know what it is to write for the Christian market. We know we do  not write sex scenes, nor do we have our main characters smoking, drinking, dancing, or cursing. We have a clean book. Usually there is a redemption in the end. We can use scripture in the book. This is a clean read. Will Christian fiction change in the future?

I hate to look on the negative side, but I do see we will have a harder time publishing these books in the years to come. I think we will continue to have Christian publishers, but will cancel culture finally get to us?

Each day another word or culture has been taken from our language. Some are good, but some are not. We cannot remove our history. It needs to be taught in schools. We need to understand why these things happen. It is the same with our writing. We need to know about different cultures, how they think and experience things. Even in fiction, we need to understand our fellow man.

I am the least racist person around. Our neighborhood was mixed when I was growing up. We were all poor, but we respected each other no matter the color of our skin. I hope my books reflex that. I don\’t know how old I was when I realized our neighbors were black. Until then, we were neighbors. I probably realized there was a difference when one of the girls up the road went to a different school than we did. We were neighbors that helped each other when there was a crises.

What do I think will happen in the years to come? I feel we will not be able to write about Christianity. Most of the books I write have mixed race characters in them, because I am a mixed race. Most of us in America are a mixed race. I feel it is something I have to write about. I may not be able to much longer.

The Bible teaches us to love everyone. Christ did not have any prejudice, the case in point is the Samaritan woman. All of the Jews avoided Samaria. Jews took a longer walk to avoid the area. Christ went right in and sat down at the public well. Why can\’t we talk about our differences? Why do we let someone tell us what books have to be banned or what words we cannot say? We need to stand for our Christianity and our Christian books.
