\”Talent on loan from God\” is a statement made by Rush Limbaugh. When you begin to think of that statement, you will see how true it is. Our talent is a loan from God. He, the Almighty, has given each of us a talent. It is up to us as to how we cultivate and use it.
As a writer, we cherish our talent. Not everyone has this talent, and some of us use it more wisely than others. We cultivate our talent, learn from others, and use it to encourage others with their writing. Writing is a lonely, challenging profession. We do not go to an office and gossip with our associates. We stick our hands on the computer and think, and sometimes we pray. We pray that the words will come in with a challenge to our readers.
During this pandemic, writers have felt more alone than ever. We have missed conferences and seeing other writers. Our local writer\’s group has not met for over a year. It is hard to not be able to see other people and talk about our writing. We miss the interaction we have had in the past.
The past year has also been a time to learn, read craft books, hone our writing, and work on marketing more. Our writing world is changing, and we need to be up-to-date. We need to make the best of each phase of our writing.
Everyone is not back to in-person conferences. There are several that are in-person, but there are also several that are virtual. Take advantage of the virtual conferences. You will not be disappointed.
Enrich your talent. Make your writing better. God has loaned it to you for your lifetime. Make the best use of it to praise Him.
I would have thought the pandemic a perfect writing time, but it wasn’t. I had to MAKE my self write, which is not normal! We have to keep in touch with the maker of that gift, though, don’t we? It’s easy to get bogged down in ourselves, when God has it all under control. Thanks for this post!
Yes, when we lose sight of Him, we lose sight of everything. We have to keep in contact with God. Pandemic was hard for me, but my sister died during the pandemic, so I guess that made it worse, still waiting for everyone to come across the ponds for a memorial service. I did not take the time to study the craft as much as I should. My aim is to do more reading and learning. I’m glad you enjoyed the post.
